I Finally Found a Bra That Holds Up My H Cup Boobs (4)

    Courtesy of brand

As someone whose cup size has more than two letters in it, I love the body I’ve been blessed with, but finding the best bras for large busts is no easy feat. Call it what you want—voluptuous, well-endowed, big-chested, busty—having big boobs can be a blessing and a curse. I don’t want to wear a bra that looks like a hand-me-down from my grandma. I want something sexy that actually works for my heavy boobs. Thankfully, the best lingerie brands have gotten wind of the fact that the best bras for big busts can be cute, comfortable, and supportive.

    Our top picks

When it comes to choosing full-bust-friendly options, there are a few qualities I consider nonnegotiable. For starters, I'm looking for bras with substantial lift and support without sacrificing style. Next up, it has to offer proper separation. If I wanted a uniboob, I’d wear a sports bra every day. In terms of coverage, clean, smooth lines minus the bulge are ideal. To find that, I have to make sure I'm shopping for a well-fitting bra for my breast shape.

Cora Harrington, lingerie expert and author of In Intimate Detail: How to Choose, Wear, and Love Lingerie, previously told Glamour that people with “larger cup sizes (or fuller breasts) tend to have projection, meaning, boobs are more shelflike and stick out in the front.” That's why she recommends looking for bra styles that offer “deeper cups to accommodate that more projected, or forward, breast volume” to avoid any gapping, spillage, or creased cups and find the perfect fit. And because it's worth noting again, the bra has to be attractive. Just because I have a large bust doesn’t mean I care less about aesthetic.

So why not treat yourself to a comfortable bra that truly fits? You know your underwear drawer has been begging to be cleaned out, so a little Marie Kondo action during the New Year couldn't hurt. Ahead, find the best bras for large busts, DD and up, according to highly rated reviews and approved by our team of Glamour testers.

      Skims Fits Everybody Bandeau Bralette

Alicia Miller, director of merchandising and fit specialist at Chantelle, told Glamour previously that the key to finding a strapless bra that works for larger bust sizes is get one with a snug band. “This is to make sure the bra is lifting from the bottom and anchored to the body,” she says. “You’ll also want smooth containment along the top of the cup, particularly near the arm where you tend to see spillage in a bad fit, which is very obvious under clothing. On the other hand, everyone should avoid a band that's too big, as that’s the most common reason for slipping.”

All to say: If you're looking for the best strapless bras for large breasts, this one from Skims will not disappoint. It's seamless and stretchy, offering the snug fit Miller recommended for fuller busts. Like its beloved shapewear, the smooth fabric is meant to disappear underneath clothes, but if you want to show it off by wearing it as a tube top (a 2023 summer wardrobe staple!), there are plenty of fun and vibrant colors to choose from.
