The controller for my Prowler 920 will NOT turn on. It flashes a few of the lights on and off but will not power up so I can run the Prowler to clean my pool

If the controller for your Prowler 920 robotic pool cleaner is not turning on or powering up properly, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:1. Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply is properly connected to the controller and that it is receiving power. Verify that the power cord is securely plugged into a functioning power outlet. You can try plugging another device into the same outlet to confirm that it is working correctly.2. Inspect the Controller Display: Take a close look at the display on the controller. If any error codes or messages are displayed, consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer for further instructions on how to resolve the specific issue indicated.3. Reset the Controller: Try performing a reset on the controller. Look for a reset button or a combination of buttons to press and hold simultaneously for a few seconds. This action can often help resolve minor software glitches and restore the controller's functionality.4. Check for Loose Connections: Ensure that all cables and connections between the controller and the power supply or the Prowler unit are securely plugged in. Sometimes, a loose or faulty connection can prevent the controller from turning on.5. Replace Batteries: If your controller uses batteries, make sure they are not depleted. Try replacing the batteries with fresh ones and see if the controller powers up properly.6. Contact Manufacturer Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to the manufacturer's customer support. They can provide you with further assistance, troubleshooting steps, or advise on any potential repairs or replacements that may be needed.Remember to consult the user manual that came with your Prowler 920 for any specific troubleshooting steps or contact information for customer support.

My Certikin Genie pool heater is showing error code HI indicating blocked condensate but there is no blockage, and sensor seems to be ok - tested with meter - is there anything else I can do?

If your Certikin Genie pool heater is displaying an error code "HI" indicating a blocked condensate, but you have checked for blockages and the sensor appears to be functioning correctly, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the condensate drain line: Ensure that the condensate drain line is clear and not blocked. Sometimes debris or dirt can accumulate in the drain line, causing a blockage. Use a thin brush or pipe cleaner to clean out any potential obstructions.
  2. Inspect the condensate trap: The condensate trap is a component in the heater's condensate system that collects and removes condensation. Check the condensate trap for any blockages or debris. Remove any obstructions and clean the trap thoroughly.
  3. Verify the exhaust system: Make sure the exhaust system, including the vent pipe and termination point, is clear of any obstructions. Blockages in the exhaust system can cause condensate backup. Inspect the vent pipe for any signs of damage or clogs and address any issues found.
  4. Reset the system: Try resetting the pool heater to see if it resolves the error code. Consult the manufacturer's manual or instructions for the specific steps on how to reset the heater. This can sometimes clear temporary faults or errors.
  5. Contact technical support: If you have performed the above steps and the error code persists, it's recommended to contact Certikin's technical support or customer service for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting guidance or recommend a qualified technician who can diagnose and fix the issue.

It's important to note that working with pool heaters involves dealing with potentially hazardous systems and components. If you are not experienced or comfortable with troubleshooting pool heaters, it's best to seek professional help from a certified technician or contact the manufacturer for support.

Our control panel indicator lights do not light up when pool comes on but may come on during the cycle. No consistency.

If the control panel indicator lights on your pool system do not consistently light up when the pool is turned on, it could indicate a potential issue with the control panel or the electrical connections. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:1. Check Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply to the control panel is stable and consistent. Make sure the power source is providing the correct voltage and that there are no loose or faulty connections.2. Inspect Wiring Connections: Verify that all wiring connections to the control panel are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wiring can cause intermittent issues with the indicator lights.3. Clean and Inspect Control Panel: Check the control panel for any signs of dirt, debris, or corrosion. Clean the control panel and its components using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution. Inspect for any visible damage or loose components.4. Test Indicator Lights: While the pool is running, observe the control panel and try to identify any patterns or triggers that may cause the indicator lights to come on. Gently tap on the control panel to see if it affects the lights. This could indicate a loose connection or a faulty component within the control panel.5. Consult a Professional: If the issue persists or you are unable to identify the cause of the inconsistent indicator lights, it is recommended to contact a professional pool technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will have the expertise to diagnose and resolve the specific issue with your pool control system.Remember, working with electrical components requires caution. If you are not experienced or comfortable working with electrical systems, it is best to seek professional help to avoid any potential safety hazards.

FAQs

What is EC code on home and garden spas? ›

ECONOMY MODE heats the spa to the set temperature only during filter cycles. “Ec” will display solid when temperature is not current, and will alternate when temperature is current. The filter cycle begins 6 minutes after the spa is energized.

Why does my hot tub heater keep shutting off? ›

Troubleshooting a Faulty Pressure Switch

Pressure switches break the electrical circuit powering the heater element, and the heater shuts down when the water flow is insufficient. It will start heating again once the proper water level and flow are established.

What usually goes wrong with a hot tub? ›

Most failures are due to heating element corrosion. This can be caused by low ph in the water supply. Low PH (below 7.0) for an extended amount of time will cause damage to the heating element and trip the GFCI breaker. Most issues can be avoided with proper water chemistry maintenance.

How often should the water in a spa or therapy pool be replaced? ›

You should only have to change your water when it looks cloudy and the issue can not be cleared up easily with the usual chemical treatments. If this is happening frequently, there's a problem with the spa or your water maintenance efforts.

Why does my hot tub keep saying EC? ›

Economy Mode heats the spa to the set temperature only during filter cycles. Ec will display when water temp is not current, and will alternate with water temp when the pump is running. This is not an error code. Mode is changed by pressing “Warm” or “Cool” then “Light”.

How do I know if my hot tub heater element is bad? ›

Test for voltage by using the amp meter, and use those test leads to measure the amp draw. If there is an excessive amp draw, that means that the heating element is in fact bad. If there is no draw from the amp, that means no power is reaching the terminals.

Where is the reset button on a hot tub? ›

The reset button is usually located on the spa pack – the box that controls all the functions of your hot tub, such as heating and filtration timing, and turns the pump on and off. To get to the spa pack, you must remove the side panel of the cabinet, and you will see it attached to the heater tube.

How to fix a hot tub that won't heat up? ›

Check wires and connections to the heater, and ensure all connections are tight. Look for signs of frayed, chewed, or burned wires, and make sure there is power coming to the heater. If you notice the coating around the filament of the heating element has any cracks or chips, replace the element.

What age should not go in a hot tub? ›

The CDC recommends that children younger than 5 years old don't use a hot tub. Children, especially very young kids, are much more heat-sensitive than adults. At this age, kiddos can quickly become overheated by the warm water.

What will ruin a hot tub? ›

10 Ways to Destroy Your Hot Tub

  • Using Pool Chemicals in Your Hot Tub. Spa chemicals are specially formulated to work in hot water, and with hot tub surfaces. ...
  • Using a Pressure Washer.

Why is my garden spa hot tub not heating? ›

The problem could be due to a dirty spa filter. Remove the spa cartridge, clean the filters, and check the flow rate or pressure. Other causes could be a broken valve, clogged spa jets or pipes, or a broken pump impeller. You will notice this from an obvious reduced flow into your spa or hot tub.

Can you put too much chlorine in spa? ›

Yes, but remember that high chlorine or bromine levels might lead to the corrosion of your hot tub components. High concentration levels of these two chemicals can also deteriorate your hot tub cover and cause health issues like skin irritation and itchy skin.

Is it OK to leave a spa pool empty? ›

The main reasons why you shouldn't empty your spa: The seals on the jet can crack or leak when you refill your spa. Any remaining water left in the pipes can rot. Water left in the pump housing can damage seals, impeller, and O rings.

What happens if you don't change spa water? ›

In the end, not changing your water routinely risks damage to the various hot tub parts and could end up costing you money in the long run, not to mention the chance of having to replace the hot tub accessories that you have invested in as well, such as the cover or floating drink holders.

What is EC mode on spa? ›

When set to “eco” or “economy” mode, the hot tub's filtration system will only turn on during its preset filtration cycles; regardless of the water temperature. This means that the filtration system and heater will both run less on eco mode than it will when using standard mode.

What does EC mean in a hot tub? ›

The "EC" stands for Economy mode, which in this mode does not allow the heater to heat up all the way. There are 3 different modes, Economy (EC), Sleep (Sl) and Standard (St). You need to get the spa into Standard mode which is the "St" if you want it to heat up to the desired temperature.

What does EC mean on a strong spa? ›

If you have the four buttons display press temp or warm then light shortly after. This will cycle through the modes St (standard), Ec (economy) and Sl (sleep) modes.
